- "Nanga Parbat" means "Naked Mountain".

- According to Reinhold Messner, his younger brother Günther, who was sick at high altitudes, died on the descent through the Diamir valley in an avalanche, when Reinhold himself was looking for the way. The older brother survived the descent via the totally unknown route only by a narrow margin.

- The shooting in the mountain area was filmed with two 35mm cameras and one 70mm camera.
